Where can I buy a new or used musket from the American Revolution?
November 30th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I just joined a reenactment group (rebel side) and they said I would need a Brown Bess or, preferably, a Charleville musket and I’ve googled and yahoo searched to no avail. I can’t afford anything more than $500 and my group assured me there would be options but just said that they found theirs by searching the web. Can you help?

You’ll never be able to afford a genuine Revolution era musket, but Dixie Gun Works, CVA, and some others make replicas that will do fine. Some of these replicas are a bit pricey, but look around, you can probably get one for ~$500 or less. Also, ask around among the re-enacters. Lots of people move, die, lose interest, or otherwise are willing to sell theirs!
I’d say you’ll have more problems putting together genuine clothing (no zippers, no plastic or pleather) than finding a musket. Good luck!
BTW, during the Revolution, Patriots would flash each other two fingers (for two separate nations, the UK and the US) If they failed to get two fingers back from the “flashee” then they’d give him one finger! THE finger! That’s where we get “giving the finger.”
