Should people change the locks if they buy a new home?

We have just brought a new house recently and I took it for granted that we would get new locks put on the front and back doors so I got a few quotes.
16 CommentsNow my husband tells me we are not getting it done because it is unnecessary.
He says we should trust the previous owner that nobody else has keys or could access the property (and all our stuff!) while we are out.
My husband accused me tonight of having an obsessive compulsive disorder because I am security/safety conscious and would prefer to know ONLY we have the keys.
Hubby says he will just ask the previous owner and he will know if the owner is lying to him about the possibility of other keys being around. I said I still would like new locks. Hubby says I should trust his judgement because he will know if the owner is lying. Now hubby says I don’t trust or respect his judgement. 
What do most people do when they move house? Am I too paranoid or just being sensible?

i have a samsung A640 phone. i bought a usb cable for it. what else do i need to get photos off it to my pc?

i have the phone plugged into the usb and into my computer… but the computer doesnt seem to recognize it… the phone is turned on. its wayyyy to expensive to just transfer the photos online over my phone. do i need some drivers or something to make this work? i thought it would jsut be plug and play?

How much should I lower house price?

I am selling a three bedroom ranch style house that is about 45 years old. It has a full basement, hardwood & poured floors in various rooms, one bath, carport and a nice level lot. I’ve priced it for $77,000. It’s freshly painted, clean, and new kitchen countertops. Lots of people have looked, but nobody has the funds. Should I drop the price as much a $5,000? I really need to sell. I cannot afford to continue paying the insurance, taxes, utilities.

I was wondering where I would go to turn someone in for false statment on a Bill of Sale?

I bought a car from this guy in Texas. On the Bill of Sale the guy put down that I traded in a vehicle which I didnt. He had written down the VIN number and all the information for the vehicle that I suppossedly traded in. I had paid 6890 for the car. The bill of Sale said I paid $6999 and he wrote I traded in for $6599. So I would only have to pay taxes on the difference. I told him I didnt want him to do that but he insisted so when I went to pay the sales tax I ended having to pay tax on the $6999. He also had false statements on the add and everything else this car has been nothing but trouble. I would like to turn him in he doesnt need to be selling anymore vehicles. No one else needs to get ripped off. So what are the Laws against doing what he did and where can I go to report him?

Why doesn’t the government buy out one or more of the auto giants?

I’m all for capitalism and the American Way and working hard for good returns on your work and ability. I don’t like the idea of socialism at all. But……………Why not?………
For example for the amount of loans the the industry giants are asking for is very little diffirent from their net worth as a company. Why not put your money where your mouth is and take one or all the companies and re tool them to build hybrids,electric,and fuel cell hydro driven green machines?????????? Appoint a Green Auto Czar to oversee the process and were the money is spent. Recruit the best minds and workers and do what you say we have to do????? Alternative fuels biofuel etc can be explored. Take the unions and oil companies and their lobbist out of the mix . Extrodinary times call for extra ordinary measures. If we can send some one to the moon and back why can’t we make environmentally friendly vehicles that are affordably and create jobs? Why not take the billions that they are asking for and put it into high speed train infrastructure. Many trains could be put in the median of the interstate highways that allready exist. Imagine the cut down of traffic between major cities if everyone had fast train access to any city that they generally commuted to for work? That would create jobs and save billions of barrells of crude a year.!! Just a few Ideas. But why not? too much political grid lock ?
What are we going to do wait until there is no oil left and no jobs to do something about our energy problems? I personally hope not.
