My biggest concern is of course, the law - I read that there is no stature of limitations so does that mean if the girl or the parents decide in 3 years or 10 years they can still press charges? What if he breaks up with her and she gets mad and reports him - even if they are not having sex, isn’t is his word against hers?

Very concerned since the mom knows and the dad doesn’t - Wouldn’t you think that if she thought he could handle it, she would tell him? This man has taken my son under his wings in a BIG way; helping him to buy a suit to prepare for interviews, taking him to business networking meetings, getting him interviews, helping him complete his resume, etc and I feel he will be very hurt and his pride hurt to know that this was all going on under his roof without his knowledge while the rest of the family knows. My husband was always close to his son until he started to spend so much time with this family and my husband has maturely accepted that his son has “adopted’ this man as a surrogate father for whatever reasons and allowed the man to help his son with these things. Now the boy just doesn’t talk to his father about anything of any significance and I think it is because he knew his dad would discourage this relationship with the young girl.

I am sure they are kissing and fondling, isn’t that just as illegal falling under “sexual contact”?

What if the girl is telling her friends and another parent or teacher reports? What if they are having *********** and she gets pregnant? He says he is not “that stupid” but I think it is STUPID to spend even one night over there and risk temptation. Very concerned since as I read, there is no statute of limitations on statutory rape, if this is true, does that mean that even 10 or 20 years from now charges can be pressed against him?

I have only met the girl and her mom once for a few minutes when they stopped by my house the night before Thanksgiving and the girl never looked me in the eyes (should have know then).

He is an adult, lives at home is recently unemployed and does not pay rent. I know that to forbid him to see her is ridiculous. What, if anything, should I do? Generally, I have been trying to let my husband deal with his children’s issues since they do not take my advice and it has been a problem in the past when I get involved, but more so with his daughter than the son.

What would you do? I want to call the mother and ask her what the hell she is thinking and tell her to not allow my son to stay overnight, at the very least. But I know that I can’t/shouldn’t do that.

I have a professional counselor who I will discuss this with tomorrow, but I wanted to get some feedback here as well. Any ideas, anyone? Please be specific and include legal references and sources when applicable.
Cesaria - I do understand all of that, thank you. I re-posted because I wasn’t getting many responses and felt the category Pregnancy-parenting might not be the best category. I sincerely appreciate your well thought out response, I am merely trying to see if anyone else would have more advice on reaching him. I am not waiting until someone posts something I would agree with. In fact, I agree with your response whole-heartedly.
And for the record - while I stated that he is immature and she is more his speed, I do not condone IN ANY WAY, nor will his father, his sister or his step-brother. I agree it is WRONG - how do I convince him? My cousin told me that I worry too much and to just let this go, I do not agree. She reminded me that her and her husband had this many years between them but I pointed out that was almost 30 years ago and the laws have changed; back in the 70’s and even the early 80’s, virtually no one pressed charges for this sort of thing if it was a consensual relationship.
BIG QUESTION TO ADD: If I talk to my counselor about this, will he be obligated by law to report my son? Ok, so I know I am obsessing, but I am really concerned; I am sure my son has no idea what kind of fire he is playing with…

He was mad at me and told me that I was not to go get the crib I was going to pick up today. He said we do not need a crib we have a bassinet playpen the baby can sleep in but I really wanted to get the baby a crib (i am 8 months pregnant) because I do not want another child sleeping in my bed.

Right now we have are 4 year old and 23 month old sleeping in our bed. I just wanted to have some furniture for the baby. It isn’t like he has to pay for the crib my dad sent me $100 to buy the crib and mattress.

So does your husbands get bent out of shape when you tell them you are going to buy something they say no and you do it behind there backs anyways?
The dresser was $15
and the crib and mattress would have been $50
p.s. he had spent $100 yesterday on video games without asking me.
